Prayer

Prayer is an extremely high value for us as a church – privately and corporately. We carry a deep conviction that prayer changes things. Firstly, it changes us! Secondly, it is abundantly clear to see from scripture that the early church was powered by prayer. It was undoubtedly one of the most highly-valued priorities of the early disciples as they experienced the birth of the Church and the explosive advancement of the Gospel. Every move of God in history has been preceded by fervent prayer.

As you will see below, there are lots of different ways that you can get involved in Prayer here at CLM, so if CLM is home church, we encourage you to dive in and get involved!

PRAYER & PRAISE

Throughout the year, we hold a monthly Prayer & Praise gathering (on the months when we are not holding times of Prayer and Fasting - see below). These are times of coming together lift up Jesus in worship and to prayer together for our church, city and nation. Whether you are a seasoned prayer warrior, or are new to faith, we would encourage you to come along and enter in.

We will often begin with a time of worship, before moving into a time of prayer. Across the evening we will do a mixture of praying in small groups, as well as praying together. There is no pressure to pray out loud, but we would encourage you to engage and add your ‘Amen’.

Our upcoming Prayer & Praise dates for 2019 are:
Friday 4 October | 7.30-9.30pm
Friday 1 November | 7.30-9.30pm

PRAYER & FASTING

In addition to our Prayer & Praise gatherings, several times a year, we hold designated times of Prayer & Fasting.

In our current season of 'Going Deeper and Reaching Wider', we were excited to call an extended prayer focus at the start of 2019. This led to our first-ever '21 Days of Prayer'. You can click here to view the Prayer Guide that we put together for this time, including the 'Prayer Shield' that we used, giving us a specific focus for each day.

We use these times of Prayer & Fasting to set some time aside to seek God on another level. A number of people will fast from food, but there are many different ways that you can engage. The most important thing is not what you are fasting ‘from’, but what you are fasting ‘to’ (i.e. creating time and space to draw close to God). You can find out more information and advice on fasting in our Prayer Guide (click the link above).

Our next time of Prayer & Fasting will be:
Tuesday 26 - Thursday 28 November

SUNDAY PRAYER

We hold two short times of prayer each Sunday ahead of our services (from 8.30am - 8.45am and 5.00pm - 5.15pm). These are times for all of our Sunday teams to gather together and pray as ‘One Team’ for God to move in our services.

If you are part of CLM you are welcome to join with us for these times of prayer any week. We gather in the church building, usually on the first floor.

PRAYER ARMY

Many members of the CLM congregation also serve as part of CLM’s ‘Prayer Army’ – responding to specific prayer requests and covering the ministries and mission of the church and the congregation in prayer on a daily basis.

You need to be part of a CLM Life Group to be part of the ‘Prayer Army’, but if you would like to find out more, please email tracy.mumbi@clmchurch.co.uk
